At Sherman’s Flatbush Memorial Chapel, Inc. we provide a wide variety of services that cater to our families’ requirements and individual desires that are needed to make knowledgeable decisions about funerals. Our professional services extend to the orthodox, conservative and reformed Jewish communities. We know funerals and you know your loved one. Let’s work together to create a Jewish memorial service that will pay a fitting tribute.
If you would like to share this moment with your broad network of family and friends, we will help you spread the word. We’ll use our print and online channels to bring the community together to celebrate your loved one’s life.
You can choose to hold your ceremony in our chapel or you can choose to hold it elsewhere. Just let us know what you prefer.
Traditional Jewish Funerals: Jewish funeral services are held in one of three locations: the synagogue, our funeral home, or at the graveside. We believe it's safe to say that almost any Jewish funeral–whether Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform–is characterized by simplicity and solemnity.
Graveside Funerals: Graveside services today are common. A major reason is families have moved out of the metropolitan area. Therefore, the graveside service provides an intimate setting for a smaller group. We can accommodate a graveside Jewish funeral service at the designated cemetery at a time that is compatible with the needs of the family.
Cremations: Cremations are an alternative to the traditional funeral. Even though Jewish tradition does not approve of cremation, there are some people who prefer this procedure. We offer either a full service cremation with services in our chapel or direct cremation without any formal services. This may or may not be followed by a memorial service.
Jewish burial service: Whether you’ve have chosen a traditional burial or above ground in a mausoleum, we will work with you to ensure that you have every opportunity to bring family and friends together to say a final goodbye before the burial.
