Traditional funerals include the ritual washing (Tahara), burial garment (shroud) and a traditional
person to sit with the remains (watcher or shomer).  The funeral directors here at Sherman’s will
guide you through all phases of the arrangements during this difficult time.

Graveside services today are common.  A major reason is families have moved out of the
metropolitan area.  Therefore, the graveside service provides an intimate setting for a smaller group.  We can accommodate a graveside service at the designated cemetery at a time that is compatible with the needs of the family.
   
Cremations are an alternative to the traditional funeral.  Even though Jewish tradition does not
approve of cremation, there are some people who prefer this procedure.  We offer either a full
service cremation with services in our chapel or direct cremation without any formal services.  This may or may not be followed by a memorial service.

Out of state shipping consists of a phone call to us, and we will make all the necessary arrangements.  We can arrange to send or receive remains anywhere in the United States or world wide. 

Shipments to Israel are completed expeditiously.  We will procure the necessary documents from
the Israeli Consulate, and arrange with the Chevra Kadisha in Israel to conduct the burial.
       
Completing all documentation such as Social Security forms, Veterans forms and Insurance policies are a service we provide to help you get through this difficult time.  We will make sure that they are filled out correctly and send them to the proper parties.

Assisting with the writing and the placing of death notices in newspapers.  We will help to compose the death notice in accordance with your wishes, and place it in any newspaper in the United States.  We will also provide plain acknowledgment cards at no additional charges.
