Obituary for Harriet Sussman
Harriet Sussman passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at her home in Whippany, New Jersey, at the age of 96.
Harriet is survived by her three children, Barry, Judy and Ira; eight grandchildren, Bonnie, Rob, Jennifer, Jared, Alley, Amy, Matthew, and Sara; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Murray.
Harriet was born on January 10, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, to Ben and Sadie Weber. She married Murray, her high school sweetheart, in 1945, and over the next nine years they welcomed three children into their new home in Queens Village, New York. Her children remember her as a kind, generous, loving mother who was devoted to her family's happiness.
She combined her busy home life with a secretarial career, and also was active in the Temple, loved music and the theater, playing tennis, gardening, cooking and baking, pottery and needlework. More recently, residing in an apartment complex in New Jersey, she became a well-respected and well-loved source of joy to all who knew her.
Harriet was laid to rest on Monday, April 11th, at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens, New York.
