Roberta Dorothy Haber
1926-2022
Roberta Dorothy Haber was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 27, 1926. Roberta was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, proud grandmother and aunt.
Roberta was married to her deceased husband, Kenneth Haber, former Brooklyn Councilman at Large, for 70 years. Together they were active members of the Senior Center League of Flatbush at the East Midwood Jewish Center, and The Brooklyn War Veterans.
She worked for the New York State Dept. of Taxation and Finance from 1977-1997 and retired with 20 years of service. She previously worked as a junior high school math teacher for the New York City Board of Education. She was a mathematician and one of the smartest people we knew. Roberta was always very sharp and used a computer way into her 90’s. Roberta went to Madison High School, and was a graduate of Brooklyn College and took continuing education into her senior years.
Roberta was an avid reader. She enjoyed learning about people and their lives and had many friends. Roberta loved flowers. She enjoyed the roses and lilacs that grew in her yard and especially liked orchids. Roberta was the matriarch of the family and very devoted to them. She was a kind, unique, strong, generous, selfless, supportive woman. Loved by many. She will be missed.
Roberta is survived by her three children: Andrew Haber, Nancy Haber and Lorri Haber-DiBoni and their spouses: Kate Gladstone, Roy Ackner and Lawrence DiBoni as well as two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Ariana DiBoni, sister in law, Marcia Wolff, and several nieces and nephews.
