I cannot begin to express my sincere gratitude to Rabbi Ackerman for playing such a profound role in the religious life of my whole family. My family was lucky enough to have three generations under his spiritual guidance. I was introduced to Rabbi Ackerman by my Grandmother when I visited her in New York. I will never forget his service for her at her passing, he was truly a great friend of everyone in the shul. When I moved to the city after graduation from college, Rabbi Ackerman kindly welcomed me into his congregation. I quickly became a regular attendee at his shul, who could turn down a phone call to join the minion. He opened my eyes to a world of religious knowledge and understanding; before studying with him I didn’t even know how much I didn’t know. He has been my spiritual guide for the last 15 years and will be forever more. I was lucky enough that Rabbi Ackerman presided over my son’s bris just a few months ago, I was so honored that he would attend. He was an incredible Rabbi; wise, compassionate, kind and selfless. His spirit lives on in everyone who was lucky enough to know him. My deepest condolences to his family, your father led a remarkable life, thank you for sharing him with us.
